Live Session and Forum Guidelines

Last updated: April 22, 2020
Guidelines adapted with permission from NSTA.

Forums and live sessions are provided as a service of the New Jersey Science Teachers Association. NJSTA accepts no responsibility for the opinions and information shared virtually or posted on this site by others. In no event shall NJSTA be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information shared virtually or posted on this site.

As with any community, there are guidelines governing behavior. For instance, violating antitrust regulations, libeling others, selling, and marketing are not permissible. Do not share anything in a message that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you. Do not challenge or attack others. Scientific argumentation with evidence is permitted, but the discussions are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may.

When recommending a commercial product or service in response to a request for suggestions from another poster, please share your personal experience with that product or service. Unsolicited recommendations of a product or service from a for-profit entity will be viewed as a commercial message. Do not post commercial messages. The cyberspace term for this is spamming. Self-promotion for commercial gain is not permitted.

Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that he or she owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the posting party grants NJSTA and users of this forum the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material. Any posting or message should not be considered private. For your own security, please do not include any confidential information.

Harvesting contact information of participants is not allowed.

We will never release, sell or give your information to any other party or organization without your explicit permission.

We take appropriate steps to maintain the security of your data on our Web site. Nonetheless, you should understand that the open nature of the Internet is such that data may flow over networks without security measures and may be accessed and used by people other than those for whom the data is intended.

NJSTA routinely monitors virtual chats and posts for inappropriate postings or violations of the rules and etiquette, and will notify those in violation privately. Depending on the severity of the violation, NJSTA will take all appropriate action, including suspension or termination of access to the forums or virtual session.

If you have any questions now or during your visit, please contact the NJSTA Webmaster or NJSTA President
