    Apply until April 30, 2026

The E-EYCA program supports secondary school educators in addressing today’s climate challenges by centering youth agency and action, leveraging quality digital platforms for student learning, and utilizing action-oriented pedagogies in the classroom. E-EYCA brings together teachers and educators over the course of a yearlong, virtual, professional development program to co-design, implement, and investigate student learning and action.

As a 2026-27 participant, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Earn a $3,200 stipend in honor of the work and professional expertise that you bring to the program, contingent upon ongoing and adequate participation in the program.
    • Learn about innovative pedagogies and online climate learning resources while conducting participatory research alongside peers and ASU’s expert educators.
    • Facilitate the growth of two students of your choosing, who will participate in select activities as part of the research process.
    • Travel with expenses covered for any in-person opportunities (e.g., conference presentations) that may arise throughout the school year.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to climate education research while also growing your own professional expertise!

Have you seen the news about the research of our QUEST Facilitator, Professor Reed Maxwell? Maxwell's group has mapped the most detailed map of ground water in the US, which allows us to know how much is available and plan for water challenges like scarcity and contamination: https://cee.princeton.edu/news/cee-professor-reed-maxwell-interviewed-la-times-important-groundwater-study

If you are interested in learning from innovative Princeton University professors, you can join us for an incredible week on Princeton University’s campus with Professor Reed Maxwell, Dr. Lisa Gallagher, and lead teacher, Heidi Wachtin, to explore water-related topics “Beneath the Surface”. Educators will take a deep dive into hydrology, the scientific study of water movement, distribution, and quality on Earth, through hands-on and minds-on experiences designed to build curiosity and confidence in teaching science. Together, participants will investigate the past patterns of water movement, uncover local and global water-related issues in our present day, and learn how to predict the future of water availability through models incorporating climate change impacts.

In today’s secondary science classrooms, safety is not optional. It is a professional, legal, and ethical obligation grounded in our Duty of Care. As laboratory experiences evolve and new hazards emerge, educators must ensure their practices align with current safety standards and risk management expectations.

In this practical and timely session, we will address:

    • Legal and professional responsibilities for secondary science educators
    • Chemical hygiene planning and regulatory expectations
    • Supervision, training, and hazard anticipation
    • Common safety gaps observed in middle and high school labs
    • Strategies to proactively reduce risk and strengthen compliance

Whether you are mentoring pre-service teachers, leading a department, supervising a program, or working directly with students, this session will provide actionable guidance grounded in national standards and real-world experience.

Dr. Ken Roy brings decades of national leadership in science safety, and I look forward to sharing insights from my work in K–12 STEM safety, administration, and consulting. Together, our goal is to help you protect students, protect staff, and protect your district.

Dataspire is hosting a free virtual Strategy Share-Out for K–12 educators on Tuesday, March 3rd (4–5pm PST / 7–8pm EST): “Upgrade the Claim: Helping Students Level Up Their Data-Based Conclusions.” This one-hour session gives teachers a simple, classroom-ready routine to help students write stronger claims and reasoning from provided data visualizations—especially the kinds of graphs students see on state math and science assessments. Educators will leave with repeatable prompts they can use right away to build data sensemaking and strengthen CER responses. Register here: https://dataspire.mykajabi.com/strategy-share-out
