The NJSTA NGSS Resource Center is a resource for all things NGSS. It is under constant construction as new resources are posted and shared. We are trying to share resources to help you understand the intent of the standards and strategies for teaching them. This is a space designed for you. If you know of a great resource, please share it with us so that we can make this page even better.
NGSS: Next Generation Science Standards
NGSS is based on the "A Framework for Science Education" published by the National Academies Press in 2012. Download a PDF Copy from "Next Generation Science Standards" from the National Academies Press.
The best resource for learning about NGSS is NextGenScience. It is literally where to find the standards. There are articles to look at how to decode and read the standards. Here are additional resources for understanding the standards:
The columns below list the basic Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI), Crosscutting Concepts (CCC), and Science and Engineering Practices (SEP's) described in the Next Generation Science Standards. This is for reference. Links will be added to content background and lesson ideas as we continue to build the NJSTA online community.
Disciplinary Core Ideas

Your Help Needed
We have only just begun. This page is constantly evolving. We need your help to build it and make it better. One person can not keep track of all the changes online. The NJSTA Community will help to build this page. We want this page to be links selected and suggested by NJSTA members. If you would like to recommend a quality site for our consideration, please send (1) the URL and (2) a short description and/or review of the site for us to post on this page to Webmaster Subject line should read: NJSTA Resources Page Suggestion.
We take the time to periodically review these links. However, the nature of the internet means things are constantly changing. Please email the Webmaster if you find any broken links.
